Official Google Reader Blog: Reader and Talk are Friends!
Google linked G-reader with G-talk to make shared stuff to be viewed by GTalk friends.
log into Reader and notify the change, friends can now see shared items in the Reader "Friends' shared items" on the left button.
you can also clear shared item if you don't wish to share any more with the option provided
And lot more features under setting page.
