Google–Search Engine-Open any file via Google Docs Viewer

Previously, you can view only websites in your browser but, now you can open any file in your browser when file being index on Google results via Google doc.

such as 

  • PDFs,
  • Microsoft Word documents
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
  • Apple Pages (.PAGES)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
  • Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
  • PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
  • TrueType (.TTF)
  • XML Paper Specification (.XPS)


suppose you have docx file but you don’t have Microsoft office installed with you then you can upload to Google doc and view it in your browser.

you can download it locally in browser and can save it hard disk also

Gmail free Calls-India

Current we can make calls over Gmail to other Gmail and also do video calling but not from Gmail/gtalk to a cell phone.

But since Google has come up with this feature in U.S and Canada , hope in future we enjoy this in India in future.

Now you can tweet/blog from mobile via sms to your twitter/blog in India , making calls from gtalk to cell  and  vice versa phone seems not too far.

A great Google desktop application

Google can came up with a desktop application like Microsoft has one “Windows Live Essentials” but its only for windows user .

If Google do come up with such desktop application , they should add twitter too which is not an option in windows live essential .

Google can come up with desktop application for many of its product just like one Google already have for Gmail offline .

They can come up with  Blogger offline desktop  application.

Using grant option one can access  shared account   from personal id

How to Do it

  • To grant access to another account,
  • click the Settings link in the top right corner of Gmail.
  • On the "Accounts" tab, you'll see a new section where you can "Grant access to your account."
  • The account you add will get a verification email with links to accept or deny access.
  • Once the account accepts and you've refreshed your browser or logged in and out again,
  • you'll see a small down arrow beside the email address at the top right corner of Gmail which can be used to toggle between accounts
  • Each account will open in a different browser tab or window so you can view both accounts simultaneously, all while signed into your primary account.
  • Signing out of any one of the accounts will sign you out of all the accounts you're currently viewing, and, of course, you can revoke access at any time.

Why  I need goto Google Reader to subscribe  and read any latest posts on the forum , why can't i subscribe in Gmail itself directly as i do in Google Reader and get the latest updates in Gmail itself.

Just like we have now Google Calendar in Gmail itself , we can also have above mentioned feature too

Google Buzz: Buzz tips

 

  Here are few tips to get you start playing with

1. Format your posts. When posting in Buzz, you can format text just edit the way you want whether bold/italic/strikethrough.

2. View a summary of your own Buzz activity at www.google.com/dashboard.

The Google Dashboard  is a place where you can find how much Google know you and what all information Google store about you, not that you can even delete stuff which you don’t Google to know from their data base

3. Use an @reply to send a post directly to someone's inbox.like @Obama

If you want to make sure one of your friends sees a certain Buzz post,You can do so by typing in "@" symbol followed by the first few letters of their name, and select their email address from the list.  email address will not be visible  to others


4. Try keyboard shortcuts to fly through buzz. Turn on keyboard shortcuts from Settings, shortcuts like “i”,”k” , very useful when you mouse is not working


5. Mute posts so they don't get sent to your inbox.  If you don't want to see any more response you can always mute from the comments option drop down list by clicking  “mute this post ”

  6. Post by email. You can post buzz by emailing buzz@gmail.com   it will automatically get posted  as your buzz post

7. Prevent your boring chat status messages from being posted to Buzz.  use parenthesis in you chat status so that it don't become status of you buzz


8. Look for the yellow line to see what's new.  .

9. Link to a post.  you can also link your blog/website url to your buzz post from the comment drop drop down list.


10. Follow the Buzz team in Google Buzz. Visit buzz.Google.com/Google buzz  for more new feature and also suggest new you want to see in Google Buzz

Google Buzz an analogous to Twitter is getting popularity at a faster rate as because Google is making  users of  its popular  service Gmail  to auto  use it .

Gmail: vowels missing

Due to failure that occurred in Google's frontend web servers  in a particular data center  vowels went missing  during  routine maintenance , And it started spreading to other data centers which being prevented by creating a stopgap solution that limited the damage

But then its effect or this error is not seen every where as few data centers were effected so Google must be look in to prevention of occurrences of such situation in future as millions of business are dependent on Google trusted services.

Almost all of the mobile operator provide you internet facility , all you need is just call you customer care to get internet activated and  either download Gmail App to you mobile from m.Google.com or visit directly to Gmail if you have opera mini web browser, but better download Gmail app if you don't have opera mini web browser or the either way

its not only that you can only read but also you can compose and send , all major stuffs can be done like replying back to any contact

while composing an email you have the benefit of auto word detector which help you type faster in mobile phone.

so, either

1. Go to Gmail website: Just like you access Gmail on your PC, go to Gmail website through your opera mini web browser, login and check mails.

just that it download the same thing again and you pay again for download

Most of the new Nokia Mobile phones have inbuilt Opera mini web browser you don't need to download and with opera mini web browser , surfing on internet becomes faster than old Nokia web browsers

2. Download the mobile application: Gmail gives application for “Java compatible phones” which promises better speed and performance. you can not download to pc and then upload to mobile you need to download right from your mobile browser ,

Here only new messages get downloaded and you save money on long run

Soon  Mozilla Firefox will launch its browser for Mobile phones looking at the growing internet use on mobile phones

Gmail Offline


A Gmail feature "offline" which had been available in Gmail as a lab feature now is graduated from lab after a year long modification and debugging and is now availalble to all

What specific about this feature
1. you can use Gmail when no internet connection
2.you can choose which messages get downloaded for offline use
3.the ability to send attachments while offline

How to avail this feature
1. Click the "Settings" link in the top-right corner of Gmail.
2. Click the "Offline" tab.
3. Select "Enable Offline Mail for this computer.
4. Click "Save Changes" and follow the directions from there.

Gmail account security tips[G-SAFE]


1. Remember to sign out. Especially when using a public computer,

2. Be careful about sending certain sensitive information via email. Once you send an email, you're no longer in control of the information it contains. The recipients, if they so choose, could forward the email or post its contents in a public place.

3. Always check the last login details when you login again at the bottom of the gmail

4. Be wary of unexpected attachments. although gmail scan all the attachments but no system is foolproof
